About Beau Laurence:

"I am driven to do this work to improve the quality of life for all who live with physical discomfort.  Bearing witness to and being actively engaged in someone's journey from injury to recovery is an honor.  It is also a great responsibility, and I continue to learn new skills so that I am better able to provide the physicial and emotional care needed at a given moment."

Passionate about health care and community health, Beau first began advocating for access for all while still in high school.  Then came stints as a sex educator for the Massachusetts Department of Health, work with AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, as an Emergency Medical Technician for the American Red Cross, and with a number of disaster relief efforts - including post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans.  Since 2011, Beau has worked as a research assistant with Denver Health's
Project REACH, performing risk education, data collection, and HIV & HCV testing with at-risk populations.  He is also involved with Denver's Harm Reduction Action Center and syringe exchange access for chronic intravenous drug users.  Beau became a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2013 after earning an Associates in Occupational Studies from Colorado School of Healing Arts.  He is also active in the transgender, queer, and street medic communities of Denver.

"I rowed varsity crew during my college career, where I learned firsthand how much a knowledgable bodyworker can help soft-tissue injuries. Decades later, I regularly receive therapy for a chronic shoulder injury that forced me out of ultra-competitive sports.  In addition to crew, I have participated in traditional Japanese martial arts, strenous backcountry hiking, aerial dance, rock climbing, and intensive weight training.  I have a two-year education from Colorado School of Healing Arts as well as training in Reiki and Thai Massage.

What Clients Have Said About Me:

"Beau provided incredible care for me after I had multiple ICU hospitalizations and asthma flares that caused a lot of issues with my mid back and ribs. I was given immediate relief from the discomfort, and also educated about stretches and home care to make the treatment last. I absolutely recommend Beau, especially for anyone with a trauma history seeking body work that respects their personal boundaries and can bring relief for a wide variety of issues."   -Z.W.

"Beau is an attentive, thoughtful healer who honors me and my body's needs. I feel safe and cared for in my sessions (almost 2 years now), and my issues of trauma and injury are respected and tended to with great intention -- both at the physical and emotional level. Beau has helped me to know my body better and to be gentle with myself in my healing process. I really appreciate that Beau understands how activists can bear trauma in their bodies and I have been able to let go of that shame. I am so thankful I found Beau and offer my highest recommendation!" -A.D.

"My first experience with Beau as my massage therapist sold me. I believe my exact words were, 'I think I just had an out of body experience.' I've continued to see Beau and wouldn't go anywhere else! In addition, if you are even remotely uncomfortable with your body type, don't fret - Beau is the most open-minded, comforting and professional therapist around." -T.P.

"I started out as one of Beau's massage school guinea pigs, and it was a pleasure to viscerally feel his growth as a healer, and now is one of very few I would trust with healing body work, as he is someone that is not only gifted with hands, but also works with the right spirit and attitude that make me feel very comfortable, help me relax, and heal."   -M.F.
